Budding Entrepreneurs Vie for $200K in the Entrepreneurs Challenge

More than 450 aspiring entrepreneurs from NYU’s student, alumni and faculty communities gathered in Paulson Auditorium to hear about this year’s Entrepreneurs Challenge. During the official Kick-Off, attendees received information about NYU Stern’s 13th Annual New Venture Competition and 9th Annual Social Venture Competition – both sponsored by Stern’s Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation – and NYU’s 2nd Annual Technology Venture Competition, hosted by Stern’s Berkley Center and NYU’s Innovation Venture Fund.

More than 80 academics, marketing professionals and industry experts, convened for NYU Stern’s 2011 Conference on “Measurable Marketing in a Digital World,” hosted by the School’s Center for Measurable Marketing. Participants explored the largest challenges facing advertisers, the latest in digital media, how organizations should be measuring the effectiveness and ROI of digital advertising, and how to take advantage of cross media synergies.

The 2011 NYU Directors’ Institute Surveys the Corporate Governance Landscape

The 2011 NYU Directors’ Institute, hosted by the NYU Pollack Center for Law and Business on May 6, 2011, was themed “Corporate Governance: A New Governance Landscape?” The event featured prominent speakers from a variety of industries discussing topics such as: maintaining high ethical standards and avoiding litigation, successfully navigating mergers and acquisitions, and handling compensation issues. The NYU Directors’ Institute is an annual continuing education program for directors, general counsels and corporate secretaries, designed to strengthen the corporate governance practices of boards of directors and help directors stay up-to-date on their legal, fiduciary and ethical responsibilities.

Some 50 academics, practitioners and policymakers gathered at NYU Stern in April for a roundtable discussion on conflicts of interest at credit rating agencies, hosted by Stern’s Vincent C. Ross Institute of Accounting. In light of recent events in the subprime mortgage crisis, the roundtable presenters addressed topics such as the issuer-pays business model, rating triggers, regulations requiring investors to use credit ratings and the history of credit rating agencies.
