About Philip W. Grovit

Philip Grovit is an Associate Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business, New York University, where he teaches a course entitled Investment Banking and Private Equity in Media and Entertainment Finance.

Philip is currently a Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer of the Corporate Private Equity business within the Merchant Banking Division at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and is part of the management team that is responsible for Goldman Sachs' private equity franchise.

As part of his responsibilities, he is also the Chief Operating Officer of the Corporate Investment Committee, which is responsible for all investment decisions relating to global corporate investments within the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman Sachs. Philip also serves on the Corporate Portfolio Management Sub Operating Group, which is responsible for managing the corporate investment portfolio.

Phillip has worked at Goldman Sachs for the past 20 years both in New York and London and has focused much of his career in the area of media and entertainment finance, specializing in private equity, mergers & acquisitions, IPOs, equity and debt financings across the broad spectrum of the communications, media and entertainment sectors. He has provided strategic advisory services, raised capital and invested in many of the leading media and telecommunication companies.

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 1996, Philip was a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton in New York. Philip also worked for 4 years at Banque de la Societe Financiere Europeenne, a merchant bank based in Paris, France, where he focused on corporate finance for multinational companies.

Philip earned an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management, from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1995. He earned a B.A., from Tufts University in 1989.
