Biography

Yannis Bakos is an associate professor at New York University Stern School of Business. Professor Bakos conducts research and teaches graduate courses on the business impact of information technology, and focuses on the Internet in particular. He is currently teaching a course on digital markets and an introduction to information technology and e-commerce.

Professor Bakos joined the Stern School in 1998. His primary research areas include the impact of information technology on markets (in particular, how internet-based electronic marketplaces affect pricing and competition), the economics and the pricing of digital information goods, buyer supplier relationships, e-commerce and the economic impact of information technology. Professor Bakos has been published in many journals including Management Science, Marketing Science, Communications of the ACM and The Journal of Economic Perspectives.

Before joining NYU Stern, Professor Bakos was a visiting associate professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and both an associate and assistant professor at the Graduate School of Management at University of California, Irvine. Professor Bakos was also a consultant for Hammer and Company and worked for IBM at the Cambridge Scientific Center.

Professor Bakos received a Bachelor of Science in computer science and engineering, a Master of Science in electrical engineering and computer science, a Master of Science in management and a Doctor of Philosophy in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
