Students are encouraged to take advantage of all career counseling and placement services at both the School of Law and NYU Stern throughout the dual degree program. Career counselors are available to aid students in areas such as résumé preparation, interviewing techniques, networking and career option assessment. JD/MBA students should become familiar early in the program with career services offered at each school.
The Office of Career Services
(OCS) at the School of Law begins working with students in November of their first year. Typically, JD/MBA students will explore traditional legal internships during the summer after their first and second years in the program, and then pursue business opportunities in their third summer (following their first year of study at NYU Stern). JD/MBA students have access to OCS throughout the dual degree program.
The Office of Career Development
(OCD) at Stern can help JD/MBA students pursue an internship as well as full-time employment in business. Dual degree students who complete the NYU Stern Ignite program during their first year of study at NYU Stern are eligible to participate in the summer internship recruiting process. Ignite consists of required and optional workshops, panel discussions, mini-courses, Q&A sessions, mock interviews, résumé critiques and functionally-specific strategy groups. In addition, JD/MBA students are eligible to participate in the full-time recruiting process at NYU Stern once they have completed all OCD requirements.
