Admission to the MBA/MPA Program

Applicants to the MBA/MPA program will complete a joint application that is evaluated independently by each school. While no additional admissions standards are applied to dual degree applications at either school, students qualify for the dual degree program only upon admission to both NYU Stern and the Wagner School of Public Service. Please note that it is possible to be admitted to both programs, only one program, or neither program in this process.

Individuals who already hold the MPA degree are not eligible for admission to the MBA/MPA program.

Program Structure

NYU Stern offers comprehensive training in the fundamentals of business and general management and the opportunity to choose from over 20 specialization areas. NYU Wagner provides foundational public policy training and the ability to specialize in policy analysis, international development, nonprofit/public management, or public finance.

Students enroll full-time, taking courses within the MBA (51 credits) and MPA (44 credits) programs concurrently, and receive a diploma from each school after three years.

Tuition & Financial Aid

MBA/MPA students pay full tuition and fees at the school through which they are registered each semester. If a student exceeds the maximum number of per-semester credits and/or courses permitted by the school in which she/he is registered, the tuition and fees for the additional credits must be paid to that school.

Merit scholarships are awarded based on a holistic review of the admissions application to each school. Financial aid, including federal and private loans, is administered by the school in which a student is registered in a particular semester. In addition, students may be eligible to obtain Teaching Fellowship or Graduate Assistantship positions, many of which offer tuition remission, at the school in which they are registered.
