Raghu Sundaram

Dean, Leonard N. Stern School of Business

Raghu assumed the Deanship in January 2018, following two years as Vice Dean of MBA Programs & Online Learning (2016-17). He has been a member of the Stern faculty since 1996 and was formerly at the University of Rochester from 1988-96.

As Vice Dean, Raghu's record of innovation included the launch of focused one-year MBA programs; the development of new specialized masters programs joint with other schools at NYU; outreach to industry including securing the participation of business leaders from companies such as Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Jigsaw, Microsoft, IBM, and PayPal on the School’s newly created Tech MBA Advisory Board; the extension of the New York City-based Executive MBA program to downtown Washington, D.C., where it is now the highest ranked EMBA in that market; the establishment of the Creative Destruction Lab-New York City; and Stern’s entry into online education, including launching the first in a series of online certificate programs; among others. Raghu also has a long record of service to Stern and the University, including a two-year stint (2012-14) as the chair of the Tenured and Tenure-Track Faculty Senators Council and serving as a member of NYU’s Presidential Search Committee in 2014.

Raghu's research in finance covers a range of areas including agency problems, executive compensation, corporate finance, derivatives pricing, and credit risk & credit derivatives. He has also published extensively in mathematical economics, decision theory, and game theory. His research has appeared in leading academic journals in finance and economic theory as well as several practitioner-oriented journals. Among other distinctions, he has served on a number of editorial boards, received grants from the National Science Foundation and other organizations, won the Jensen Award, and been a finalist for the Brattle Prize.

Raghu is the author of two books: A First Course in Optimization Theory (Cambridge University Press, 1996) and Derivatives: Principles and Practice (McGraw-Hill, 2010). In 2007, he became the inaugural recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award from the Stern School of Business.

Raghu received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Madras in India, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, and both an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University.
 

Isser Gallogly

Associate Dean of MBA Admissions and Program Innovation

Isser Gallogly is the Associate Dean of MBA Admissions and Program Innovation. Now in his 16th year with New York University’s Stern School of Business, he is responsible for the Full-time MBA, Fashion & Luxury MBA, Tech MBA and Part-time MBA programs as well as the MS in Accounting program. In addition to his admissions responsibilities, Dean Gallogly is engaged in a variety of strategic initiatives for the school.

Prior to joining NYU Stern, Dean Gallogly worked for almost a decade in consumer packaged goods marketing. He held several positions in brand management at L‘Oreal, Unilever, and Mattel Toys.

Dean Gallogly received his MBA from Duke University and his B.S. from Colby College.
 

Nathan Pettit

Associate Professor of Management and Organizations

Nate Pettit is an Associate Professor of Management and Organizations. He currently teaches the core course "Leadership in Organizations" in the full-time MBA program, having previously taught undergraduate and Ph.D. students at Stern. He serves on the advisory council of the Leadership Development Program and is the faculty representative for the MBA student podcast, Stern Chats. Professor Pettit is also active in developing and delivering custom executive education short courses and seminars on leadership, culture, team dynamics, conflict, motivation, and group decision making.

Professor Pettit's research focuses on status dynamics, competition, and cross-cultural psychology. His work has been published in multiple management and psychology journals as well as featured in a variety of media outlets. He has won numerous awards for his research and teaching, included recently being named to Poets and Quants “40 most outstanding MBA professors under 40,” best paper awards at both the Academy of Management and INGRoup conferences, and the Stern Distinguished Teaching Award.

Prior to joining NYU Stern, Professor Pettit taught "Leading Teams" while completing his Ph.D. at Cornell University.
 

Kristen Sosulski

Clinical Associate Professor of Information, Operations & Management Sciences

Kristen Sosulski is a Clinical Associate Professor of Information, Operations and Management Sciences at New York University Stern School of Business. She is also the Director for Learning Science Lab. She teaches Data Visualization, R programming for Data, Operations in Panama, Ops in NYC, and the core information systems undergraduate course.

Professor Sosulski's scholarly interests include learning sciences, new media, data visualization and business analytics. Her research focuses on technological change and education. She has consulted with for-profit, nonprofit and government agencies to conceptualize design and evaluate online educational, business and social media projects. She is the author of Data Visualization Made Simple (2018), Essentials of Online Course Design: A Standards-based Guide (2015; 2011) and The Savvy Student's Guide to Online Learning (2013) and other articles related to business analytics, learning science, and educational technology.

Before joining NYU Stern, Professor Sosulski was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Digital Communications and Media at NYU's School of Professional Studies, where she held positions as the Assistant Divisional Dean of Programs in Business, the Academic Director of Distance Learning, and the Academic Director of NYU Online: Undergraduate Degrees for Adults and the chair of the M.S. in Instructional Design and Corporate Training program. Prior to joining NYU, she was a project manager for the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching for six years. Also, she taught introductory and advanced computer programming to graduate students at Columbia University.

Professor Sosulski received a B.S. in Information and Systems, and Management and Organizational Behavior from New York University Stern School of Business. She received an M.A., Ed.M. and Ed.D. from Columbia University.

Johannes Stroebel

Professor of Finance

Johannes Stroebel joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Finance in July 2013.

Professor Stroebel conducts research in finance, macroeconomics and real estate economics. His recent research focuses on the residential housing market and consumer credit markets, with a focus on understanding the role of asymmetric information in determining market outcomes. He has also analyzed the impact of government interventions in the housing market through the fiscal code, and has evaluated government responses to the recent financial and housing crisis.

Prior to joining Stern, Professor Stroebel was the Neubauer Family Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In the past, he has worked for Deutsche Bank and Merck KGaA. He is a member of the Working Group on Economic Policy at the Hoover Institution.

Professor Stroebel read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Merton College, Oxford, where he won the Hicks and Webb Medley Prize for the best performance in Economics. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics at Stanford University, where he held the Bradley and Kohlhagen Fellowships at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research.




Student Speakers

Steven Avila

Steven Avila is an MBA2 at NYU Stern and is originally from Palmdale, CA. Steven attended Antelope Valley Community College and transferred to California State University, Monterey Bay where he received a B.S. in Business Administration and International Business. Upon graduation, Steven moved to Washington, D.C. and spent five years working in the Obama Administration. Steven spent two years at the White House working in the Office of Presidential Correspondence before transferring to the Department of the Interior as a political appointee. Steven's portfolio included engaging elected officials nationwide on domestic policy issues, renewable energy development on public lands, and the development of public and private partnerships for the National Park Service. Upon graduation, Steven will be joining McKinsey & Company as an Associate and is currently the Stern Student Government Co-President and co-host of the Stern Chats Podcast. 
 

Ataya Eltibi

Ataya is an MBA2 and grew up in Beirut, Lebanon. He graduated from the American University of Beirut with a B.S. in Civil Engineering before joining his family business distributing medical equipment in Lebanon and later the UAE, where he grew the Abu Dhabi business threefold. He came to NYU Stern hoping to transition into a career in management consulting. This past summer, Ataya interned at the Boston Consulting Group in Dubai and will be joining full time at graduation. He serves as a teaching fellow for both Accounting and Decision Models and Analytics. Outside of class, Ataya likes to travel with fellow Sternies, explore New York’s culinary cuisine, and be mediocre at an array of sports.
 

Matt Krasnoff

A native New Yorker, Matt has a B.A. in Sport Management from the University of Michigan but has spent his career exploring the tech ecosystem in New York. He started out in Sales and Account Management at a SaaS startup before working at LinkedIn in NYC prior to NYU Stern. He's now part of the inaugural class of the Andre Koo Tech MBA and looking to get back into the startup world after graduation. During his time at Stern, he's interned at Company (FKA Grand Central Tech) and did a product consulting project for NYC startup, Nestio, as part of the Tech MBA's experiential learning component. Matt is an avid basketball/NBA fan and hosts "The 3 Man Weave NBA Podcast." He is also a self-proclaimed dumpling guru and hosts the "Krazy Dumpling Tour" through Airbnb Experiences, a walking food tour of NYC's Chinatown.
 

Denecah Nickerson

Denecah Nickerson is an MBA2 specializing in Marketing and Leadership and Change Management. Before attending Stern, Denecah worked at Memorial Hermann Health System (MHHS), one of the largest healthcare providers in Texas, as a digital marketing specialist. Before working at MHHS, Denecah worked at FleishmanHillard in the agency's international reputation management practice supporting several Fortune 500 clients. Denecah graduated from Florida A&M University with a B.S. degree in Public Relations. She's mom to Dolcé, a pomeranian with a big personality who just turned nine. Following graduation, Denecah will return to the marketing team at Mars Wrigley Confectionery, where she interned last summer. Denecah looks forward to helping carry out the company's goal of bringing smiles to people's faces.

The Outreach Committee assists MBA Admissions in planning Stern Preview each year.
The Committee is an arm of the Stern Torch Committee, a group of more than 120 student volunteers dedicated to recruiting Stern’s next class of MBA students.


Chaoyun Bao

Chaoyun Bao is a member of the inaugural class of the Andre Koo Tech MBA at NYU Stern. She is passionate about using data analytics to define and solve pressing business problems. Post-graduation, she is going to join IBM as a senior consultant in their Chief Analytics Office. In her spare time, Chaoyun loves to study folkloric dance and snuggle with her cat, Wallace. 
 

Kristin Emodi

Kristin is originally from Virginia Beach, VA. She moved to New York City for undergrad and it has been her home ever since. After graduating from Columbia University, she worked in pharmaceutical consulting for a year before entering medical school at NYU. Kristin is currently in her fourth year of the MD/MBA program. Kristin came to Stern to broaden her understanding of the healthcare industry and to gain the skills necessary to become a physician leader. After graduation, Kristin plans to pursue emergency medicine and healthcare administration.
 

Matias Ferraro

Matias is an MBA1 and is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. He graduated in 2012 from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella with a Business Economics degree. After graduation, he started working in the wine industry for Argentina's largest wine group. During this experience, Matias worked both in Marketing and Sales and managed new markets such as China, Japan, Taiwan and the U.S. Matias decided to join NYU Stern to leverage his managerial skills and international experience, as well as to broaden his business knowledge. He is now doing a career shift to management consulting, joining Bain & Company's London office for a summer internship.
 

Scott Garino

Scott is currently an MBA1 at NYU Stern. Before Stern, Scott served 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Aviation Officer and AH-64 Apache Pilot. After graduating from Rutgers University, Scott started his Army career in South Korea where he led Apache missions along the North Korean border and an aviation maintenance team. He later deployed to Iraq and Syria where he provided advice, assistance, and aviation support to maneuvering U.S. & Coalition forces. Scott chose to attend NYU Stern because of the University’s Fertitta Program, world-renowned Finance and Accounting departments, and its network on Wall Street. Scott will be pivoting into investment banking through an internship with RBC.
