Josephine M. Smith joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Finance in August 2010. She teaches the course entitled "Debt Instruments." Prior to joining NYU Stern, she worked in the Division of Monetary Affairs at the Federal Reserve Board.
Professor Smith's research interests lie at the intersection of monetary macroeconomics and finance. She studies the implications of asset pricing on monetary policy and the macroeconomy. Her most recent work examines credit and liquidity risk premia in short-term money markets during the recent financial crisis and how monetary policy should react to shocks in financial markets.
Professor Smith received her B.A. in Economics from the University of Rochester and her Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University.
