Renee Rottner joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Management and Organizations in July 2010. She teaches courses on entrepreneurship. Prior to joining NYU Stern, Professor Rottner co-founded three technology ventures and worked in engineering, consulting and nonprofit organizations.

Professor Rottner's research interests include innovation and entrepreneurship in technology-driven organizations, including new ventures, research institutes and government laboratories. Her current work examines the resource configurations that help new firms survive and the strategies that managers use to acquire legitimacy for innovation projects. Professor Rottner has received research funding from NASA and best paper awards from the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of Management and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences.

Professor Rottner received her B.A. from Eastern Michigan University, her M.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and her Ph.D. in Management from the University of California, Irvine.
