Biography

Thomas Michael Mertens joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Finance in September 2009.

Professor Mertens' main research interests include asset pricing, macroeconomics and computational finance. His most recent studies explore origins and consequences of excess volatility in stock markets and analyze the effects of stabilization policy.

Professor Mertens earned his diploma in Mathematics from Bonn University and his Ph.D. from the Economics Department at Harvard University.
