Freshmen Pre-Arrival Checklist
|September 3||Classes begin||Fall 2013 classes begin|
|October 19||Parents Day||Parent's are invited to NYU to learn about what their new students have been up to.|
|December 20||Last Day of Fall Semester Final Exams||Please be aware that, since final exam week is December 16-20 this fall, some classes will have final exams on Friday, December 20. Before making any travel arrangements to go home at the end of a semester, every semester, a student needs to check with his/her professors during the first class meetings about the timing of that class' final exam. It is not appropriate or acceptable to schedule flights before (or too soon after) your last final examination.|
|Please review Next Stop NYU for important dates in September and October.|
|August 1||Stern's Laptop Requirement||Stern requires all students to have their own laptop computer (recommended specifications for software and hardware will be posted over the summer and updated here when ready). Your current model may be sufficient, or you may want to upgrade at some point|
|August 1||Complete submission of the Student Health Requirements||Failure to submit all required health forms by the deadline may result in your fall 2013 courses being dropped as well as a restriction preventing you from moving in to your residence hall on August 25.|
|August 7||Fall Semester Tuition Due||Payment for the Fall 2013 semester is due today (unless you participate in one of NYU’s payment plans, in which case the deadline[s] may be different). You can verify receipt of your payment through Albert. The Bursar removes/drops non-payers from all their fall classes, so please contact them well in advance of this date if you have any questions about your bill. |
***Because we realize that NYU is a large investment, you and your family are also strongly encouraged to discuss enrollment in the Tuition Insurance Refund Plan by this time.***
|August 16-25||Activate Stern E-mail||We'll talk about this more during Orientation, but as a Stern student, you will have 2 IT/e-mail accounts: one through NYU and one through Stern. We'll send out information by this date on how to activate your Stern account. All students are expected to have activated their account before August 25.|
|August 20||Ordering Textbooks||The NYU Bookstore will post the required (and any optional) textbooks or materials for your fall semester classes by this date. Although some course materials are only available at the NYU Bookstore (e.g., certain "coursepacks"), in general, you are not required to purchase widely available books through the NYU Bookstore.|
|August 21||Academic Integrity Assignments||Academic integrity is vital to the life of the mind found at any university, and NYU and Stern are no exceptions. |

(b) As a Stern student, you will be held to the NYU Stern Code of Conduct, so please familiarize yourself with these policies.
|August 25||Move-in Day||Students move in to the residence halls at assigned times on Sunday, August 25 (your assigned time is usually announced by early August). You should not plan to arrive in NYC on/after August 26.|

|June 6||Start to Register for Your Fall Classes||Incoming NYU Stern freshmen will be able to register for Fall 2013 classes online through Albert starting at 10am EDT today. Please make sure you have viewed the webcasts (to be posted in May) and read through the online materials on which courses to select well before this date and time. If necessary, adjustments can be made later in the summer.|
|July 1||Finalizing Your Admission||Admissions requires that all student submit both their final high school transcript and a date of graduation. 1) At most U.S. high schools, the final transcript lists both the spring/final grades and the date (day, month, and year) of a student's graduation, so submitting the final transcript alone fulfills both requirements.|
2) High school outside the United States often do not list the date of graduation on the transcript. In these cases, you must have your high school send a separate letter/certificate on school letterhead that verifies your date of graduation. This is in addition to the final transcript.
|July 27||RSVP for Stern's Orientation||Although Orientation is required, there is some information we need from you to ensure that Orientation goes smoothly. The link to RSVP will be e-mailed out|
