Providing Feedback

Faculty have a responsibility a) to provide feedback to students on their performance at regular intervals throughout the course, including final exams and assignments, and b) to respond promptly to questions and concerns about grading. Also, be sure to tell your students how they can retrieve their final exams, papers, etc. once they have been graded.

Final Deliverable Due Dates

PLEASE make sure that your final deliverable due date is no more than one week after your last class session. This rule applies every semester and every module. We are not doing students any favors by dragging out their course completion (whatever some of them may tell us!). Please let us know if you want some help thinking creatively about how to schedule the end of your course.

Grade Due Dates

Final grades are due no later than one week after the final class meeting, final exam, or final assignment due date, whichever is latest.

Giving Students Their Final Grades

Please post your final grades through the official online grading systems only and not in NYU Classes or anywhere else. In the MBA Program, our Course Faculty Evaluation (CFE) response rates are great because students know they won't be able to see their final grades for a month unless they complete the CFE before the deadline.
MBA grades are submitted through AIS.
Undergraduate grades are submitted through Albert.

Discarding Student Papers

Please keep all exams, assignments, etc. that have not been returned to students for at least two full semesters following the one in which the course was offered. This includes materials that have been left in the department for students to pick up. If an incomplete grade is granted, faculty should keep all assignments submitted by the student who received the incomplete at least two semesters following the one in which the incomplete is changed to a grade or lapses to an "N" (in the case of an "IP") or an "F" (in the case of an "IF").
