The doctoral program of the Leonard N. Stern School of Business prepares students for faculty positions at leading universities around the world.

Students work closely with distinguished faculty members in programs designed to meet individual research interests and professional goals.

The Stern School's unique location, considerable size, and excellent faculty create the best opportunities for students to develop their research talents and to prepare for academic careers.

A study published in the December 2000 Academy of Management Journal ranked Stern 4th overall for faculty research productivity in top tier journals.  In the same study, 5 of Stern's disciplines ranked in the top 10.

We are proud of the placement record of our Ph.D. graduates.  In fact, among U.S. business schools, Stern placed 2nd in the doctoral rating category of the 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 Financial Times rankings. The rankings are based on number of graduates and faculty placements at the top 50 business schools.  Among our alumni are the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, as well as faculty at such universities as Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, MIT, Northwestern, Stanford and Wharton.
