Making connections with the Stern community
Visiting students are paired with an IBEX Buddy (a full-time Stern student who has studied abroad). Stern coordinates an orientation session and reception, an IBEX Buddy event, and a farewell reception. Students have the opportunity to join Stern clubs and NYU organizations, and the Events Calendar lists the multiple events held at Stern each week. To keep up with what's going on at Stern students can also follow the action via the NYU Stern Undergraduate College Facebook group and a variety of other social media platforms.
In addition, the university offers recreation and fitness facilities, computing and library facilities, and health and counseling services. Students can purchase discount movie, theater, and concert passes at NYU’s Ticket Central office. Since incoming exchange students are in classes with full-time Stern students, they have the opportunity to interact and form friendships with both American and other international students. To help get better acquainted with Stern's buildings and programs before arriving incoming students are encouraged to watch the Stern Undergraduate Street Team Ambassadors' Walk-Through Tour video.
International exchange students also have full access to the services of the Office of Global Services, which coordinates international student activities and all visa and documentations services. International exchange students are also required to attend the orientation session offered by the Office of Global Services just prior to the start of the semester.
