How can I post a job?
You can submit job postings, internships or fellowships for Graduate MBA Students and Stern Alumni through our Stern Recruitment System. Click on 'Sign up for an account' and fill out the required information to set up your account, then submit a job posting using the 'Post a Job' function. If you are looking for undergraduate Stern students, please post through the Wasserman Center for Career Development

What is Stern's offer policy?
We request that companies inform students of their status within two weeks of on- and off-campus interviews. Please see the offer policies page for information regarding offers made during the Fall and Spring semesters.
 
How will executive search firms and third party recruiter positions be posted? 
We will post positions for executive search firms and third party recruiters but you must indicate in your company profile and the job posting form that you are a third party executive search firm. In the job posting form, we ask that you provide us with the name of the client company for which you are conducting this search. 

When will my posting be available to applicants?
You will receive email notification of your posting's approval/disapproval status within 1-2 business days of submitting your job posting and the posting will be made available immediately upon approval.

What else can I do to expland my company's presence at Stern?

Our Relationship Management Team, aligned by industry, is available to consult with you about the best ways to reach students and expand your company's presence on campus. If you are interested in doing more, review the recruiter's site for ideas to get involved throughout the year and contact your Relationship Manager.

How do I reach Stern alumni?
You can indicate that the position is targeted to Stern alumni (including MBA and undergraduates) by checking the appropriate box in the 'Student Group' question on the job posting form.

How do I reach undergraduate business students or students from other programs at NYU?

The Wasserman Center for Career Development works with undergraduate Stern students as well as graduate and undergraduate students from other schools at NYU. They offer a job posting service on their website.

Will my contact information be kept confidential?
Your name, title, and email are set to share with students automatically. If you would like to remain anonymous, you may uncheck any of these details and it will not be visible to students.

What happens if someone else from my company registers to post a job?
Colleagues at your company may register as separate contacts. After they register, their accounts will be reviewed and approved, and they will receive an approval notification via email.


Why are so many fields required?
Providing thorough information will assist applicants in their job search and ensure that the most appropriate candidates apply for your position.

What is the best contact method for applicants to apply to my job posting?
Feel free to use whichever application method works best for you and your company, be it email, through your company website or accumulating online through the
Stern Recruitment System.

How do I provide candidates special instructions about the application process?
If you have any special instructions about how to apply, please include those instructions clearly in your job description. You can include instructions such as how the subject line of an emailed resume and cover letter should read, additional forms to complete, salary history, or what information to include in the cover letter. If you would like applicants to use an external link to apply, select "Apply via External Link" under Applications Methods in the job posting form.

Is there a cost associated with posting to your site?
Employers can post MBA/Alumni opportunities to our site free of charge.

Should I reply to each applicant?
Our office requests that your company reply to each Stern MBA applicant, notifying them of their interview status.

How can I manage my job posting(s)?
To view, edit or remove jobs that you have posted, simply log back into the 
Stern Recruitment System to manage them.

How can I avoid job scams?
Job seekers should beware of online scammers who pose as employers in order to scam students out of large sums of money. Job scams can be difficult to spot and even seemingly legitimate postings can later involve contact with a fake employer online, via email, online chat, in person, or over the phone.

To avoid becoming involved in a job scam: 
Never pay an employer via a money transfer service or gift cards to cover training, software, or materials; Never accept a check from an employer to purchase materials required for your training and/or position; and Never agree to deposit a check into your checking account and return funds to the employer by cash, gift cards, or check.

What are some flags to help me recognize a fraudulent job posting? 
Generally, if the job posting, email, or interaction with the employer contains elements of the following, you should end all communications with the employer: 
  • Offers to pay a large amount of money for very little work
  • Offers you a job without ever interacting with you or after a very brief virtual conversation
  • Requests an immediate interview via an online chat platform such as Google Hangouts
  • Requests personal information from you such as Social Security Number, bank account numbers, credit card information, copies of your passport or license and/or other personal documents during the interview process
  • Requests you to transfer or wire money from one account to another, or to purchase any type of gift cards
  • Asks you to purchase or send money for training materials or other needed supplies, with or without the promise of repayment
  • Offers you a large payment in exchange for allowing the use of your bank account — often for depositing checks or transferring money or offers to send you a check before you do any work or sends you an unexpectedly large check
  • Outreach comes from a contact email address that does not match the company’s website domain (i.e. JohnSmith@gmail.com rather than JohnSmith@companyname.com).
     
What should I do if I suspect a fraudulent job posting?
If you suspect the job posting is a scam, or are suspicious of emails or other communication sent by the potential employer, please terminate contact and notify NYU Stern MBA Career Services immediately (recruit@stern.nyu.edu or 212.998.0623).

What should I do if I am the victim of a job scam? 
If you believe you are the victim of a job scam, contact NYU Stern MBA Career Services immediately (recruit@stern.nyu.edu or 212.998.0623) to report the incident and receive additional support navigating your next steps and actions. You can also contact NYU Public Safety to file a report at 212.998.2222, or by visiting their Command Center at 7 Washington Place. If the incident occurred completely over the internet, you can file an incident report with the US Department of Justice or by calling the FTC at 1.877.FTC.HELP (1.877.382.4357).

Once you are hired, if you have any concerns about the legitimacy of the company or believe the work environment to be unsafe, contact the US Department of Labor.
