Lindgren spoke candidly about his career, including a stint at Businessweek after the magazine was bought by Bloomberg. He also shared some of his strategic thinking for The New York Times Magazine, and offered some perspective on the challenges facing the print journalism industry in general today.

    NYU Stern Hosts the 2012 Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards

    The third annual Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards, hosted at NYU Stern, honored several leading disruptive innovators who have impacted the worlds of business, technology, arts and entertainment. Founder of Twitter and Square Jack Dorsey and Room to Read founder John Wood received the Lifetime Achievement awards. Other honorees ranged from pop star Justin Bieber and Rick Rubin, who founded Def Jam Records in his NYU dorm room, to Steven A. Curley for his advances in cancer treatments and Dr. Patricia Bath, the first person to demonstrate Laserphaco cataract surgery.

  • More than 400 students, faculty and administrators from across NYU gathered to hear Eric Schmidt, executive chairman of Google, Inc., interviewed by NYU Trustee and alumna Maria Bartiromo (WSC ’89), anchor at CNBC, in NYU Stern’s Paulson Auditorium.
  • Author and journalist Roberto Saviano and Professor Nouriel Roubini sat down with Ruth Ben-Ghiat, chair of NYU’s Department of Italian Studies, to share their perspectives on the financial crisis, criminal activities and money laundering, and how they undermine trust in the global financial system.
