Manuel Arriaga is Clinical Assistant Professor of Information, Operations and Management Sciences. He received his BA in Economics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and his PhD in Management and Information Systems from NYU Stern.

Professor Arriaga combines his research and teaching activity in Management and Information Systems with his work for the promotion of participatory democracy and greater civic engagement. He is the author of “Rebooting Democracy: A Citizen’s Guide for Reinventing Democracy.” He teaches courses in informations systems, data science and programming.

Before joining Stern, Professor Arriaga served on the faculty of the University of Cambridge Judge Business School. He held a Visiting Research Professor appointment at Stern between 2013 and 2018. His research work has been recognized with the Best Published Paper Award at the Academy of Management (OCIS Track). He also received a Teaching Excellence Award at the Judge Business School in 2012.
