The Sixth Annual NYU Stern Volatility Institute Conference convened academics, practitioners and regulators to discuss the latest research and ideas on this year’s theme, “Market Liquidity and Funding Liquidity: Implications for Economic Risk.” 

On April 23, NYU Stern’s Center for Real Estate Finance Research hosted their third annual Spring Symposium.

As a part of the Conversations on Urbanization series held by NYU Stern’s Urbanization Project, Edward Glaeser, Fred and Eleanor Glimp Professor of Economics at Harvard University, spoke with Paul Romer, Director of the Urbanization Project, Interim Director of NYU's Marron Institute on Cities and the Urban Environment and Professor of Economics, in a public presentation on April 22.

Anita Raghavan, author of The Billionaire’s Apprentice and contributor to The New York Times and Forbes, delivered the Ninth Annual Haitkin Lecture at NYU Stern this spring. 

MBA students celebrated the final weeks before graduation at the 2014 Bowling Night with President John Sexton and Dean Peter Henry.

The Right Honorable Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, addressed an audience of students and alumni in NYU Stern’s Paulson auditorium on April 8. He delivered the 2014 Ashok Sani (BS ’74) Distinguished Scholar Lecture, entitled, “Current Trends in the World Economy,” in honor of Ashok Sani, an Undergraduate College alumnus who had served on the School’s Board of Overseers.

Academics, practitioners and policymakers gathered at NYU Stern on April 7 for a roundtable discussion on “Getting Personal With Securities Litigation in 2014,” co-hosted by the Vincent C. Ross Institute of Accounting Research and NERA Economic Consulting.

Bob Pittman, Chairman and CEO of Clear Channel, joined Langone MBA students for a 2013-2014 Langone Speaker Series event. Professor Charlie Murphy moderated the discussion, beginning with a one-on-one interview and followed by an open Q&A session with students.

On April 4th, NYU Stern’s Entrepreneurs Exchange Club (EEX) will host its annual conference featuring keynote speaker Arianna Huffington, a speaker series that will provide insight into the entrepreneurial journey and panels focused on innovation, mobile and food.

Paul Romer, University Professor, professor of economics, director or the NYU Stern Urbanization Project and interim director of NYU's Marron Institute on Cities and the Urban Environment, delivered a University Professorship Lecture entitled “Approaching the City through Pasteur's Quadrant" this Spring. The event was hosted by Provost David McLaughlin and Dean Peter Henry in Stern’s Cantor Boardroom.

Susan Jurevics (MBA ’96), chief executive officer of Pottermore, joined Dean Peter Henry and MBA students for NYU Stern’s Block Lunch event series this spring.

In a discussion hosted by NYU Stern’s Leadership Development Initiative, Dr. David Rock, Co-founder and Director of the NeuroLeadership Institute, spoke to MBA students on March 27 about key neuroscience research findings that have implications for improving leadership best practices.

Organized by NYU Stern’s Citi Leadership & Ethics Program and Business & Society Program, with generous support from the Citi Foundation, the 2014 conference featured this year’s Distinguished Citi Fellow in Leadership & Ethics Ellen Seidman, former director of the US Treasury Department’s Office of Thrift Supervision and senior fellow at the Urban Institute.

The MBA Media & Entertainment Conference (MEC), which will take place on Friday, March 7, is an annual conference co-hosted by students at NYU Stern, Columbia, Wharton, MIT Sloan, Duke Fuqua and Chicago Booth.

The Stern Private Equity Club’s (SPEC) ninth annual conference will be held on February 28. The conference, themed, “Finding Alpha: Navigating Investment Headwinds in Private Equity,” is designed to provide current students, alumni and industry professionals with networking opportunities and panel discussions focusing on trends and issues facing the private equity and venture capital industries.

New York University hosts its third annual NYU Entrepreneurs Festival to celebrate the vibrant and growing start-up culture at the University. The event, co-hosted by the NYU Stern Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the NYU Entrepreneurs Network and the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute, provides an opportunity for new ventures to seek advice and learn from the experiences of start-up founders, investors and prospective entrepreneurs from the NYU entrepreneurial community.

The 10th Annual NYU/Penn Conference on Law and Finance, jointly sponsored by New York University’s Pollack Center for Law & Business, the University of Pennsylvania’s Institute for Law and Economics and Wharton’s Financial Institutions Center, will be held at the University of Pennsylvania Law School on February 28 and March 1.

The Strategy and Operations Club and the Management Consulting Association will co-host the Fourth Annual Strategy Forum, themed “Big Data | Big Results,” on February 27th, 2014.

On February 25, the Center for Real Estate Finance Research partnered with two student organizations, the Stern Real Estate Club and Stern Women in Business, to host an Executives-in-Residence Day.

Paula Kerger, President and CEO of PBS, joined Langone MBA students for a 2013-2014 Langone Speaker Series event. Professor Charlie Murphy moderated the conversation, which began with a one-on-one interview focused on Kerger’s experiences at PBS, career path and professional pointers for Langone MBAs.

On Friday, February 21, 2014, the Salomon Center for the Study of Financial Institutions will host Research Day 2014, featuring presentations on in-progress research at NYU Stern and a panel discussion on the current state of the world economy and financial system.

The social enterprise communities of NYU's Leonard N. Stern School of Business, School of Law, and Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service are co-hosting this year's 4th Annual NYU Social Innovation Symposium (SIS).
