Students, administrators and faculty from across NYU convened in Paulson Auditorium at NYU’s Stern School of Business this April for a panel discussion entitled, “Beyond Deep Breaths: Transforming the Workplace Through Mindfulness.”

NYU Stern alumnus Edward Gilligan (BS '82), president of American Express, and Thomas Glocer, former CEO of Thomson Reuters, joined a discussion entitled, "The Changing Face of Wall Street: How Technology is Disrupting the Finance Industry,” this April.

Devon Pike, president of Givenchy US and former CEO of De Beers, North America, joined MBA students and alumni for a 2014-2015 Langone Speaker Series event, presented by U.S. Trust. 

A collaborative group comprising faculty and deans from business and law schools, as well as other leaders in business, law and the nonprofit sectors, convened at NYU this February to engage in a discussion about “Corporate Political Accountability: The Importance of Educating Future Business Leaders Beyond Citizens United.”

Lloyd C. Blankfein, chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, and John Sexton, president of New York University, sat down in February to discuss “Global Leadership in the 21st Century” before an audience of more than 400 students. Hosted by the NYU Leadership Initiative and the NYU Stern School of Business, the event drew undergraduate and graduate students from Schools across the University, including the College of Arts & Science, Graduate School of Arts & Science, Law School, Wagner School of Public Service and Stern.

Professor Irshad Manji, founder of the Moral Courage Project and a faculty member at NYU Wagner, shared leadership lessons with executives in the TRIUM Global Executive MBA program and TRIUM alumni on Thursday, January 22.

As part of NYU Stern’s new Mindfulness in Business Initiative, which launched earlier this year, MBA students convened for a workshop introducing mindful leadership practices aimed at increasing focus, clarity and resilience.

Dean Peter Henry and William R. Berkley (BS '66), Chair-Designate of NYU Trustees and Chairman of NYU Stern's Board of Overseers, hosted "The Changing Face of Wall Street: From Universal Banks to Shadow Banks," the first installment of NYU Stern's speaker series on the future of finance on Monday, September 29.

The Right Honourable Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and NYU’s first Distinguished Global Leader-in-Residence, presented a talk entitled "Global Economic Problems, Global Solutions," to more than 100 graduate students from NYU’s Stern School of Business, Wagner School of Public Service and the School of Arts & Science this fall.

This fall, NYU Stern and NYU’s Global Spiritual Life launched the Mindfulness in Business Initiative, which aims to integrate mindfulness into the core of leadership development for Stern MBA students. 

NYU Stern’s 2nd Annual Risk Management Symposium convened professors and industry practitioners to discuss current global risk issues.

The Macro-Financial Modeling Group will host its 2014 conference, focusing on sovereign credit risk and financial stability, at NYU Stern from May 30-31.

Anita Raghavan, author of The Billionaire’s Apprentice and contributor to The New York Times and Forbes, delivered the Ninth Annual Haitkin Lecture at NYU Stern this spring. 

The Right Honorable Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, addressed an audience of students and alumni in NYU Stern’s Paulson auditorium on April 8. He delivered the 2014 Ashok Sani (BS ’74) Distinguished Scholar Lecture, entitled, “Current Trends in the World Economy,” in honor of Ashok Sani, an Undergraduate College alumnus who had served on the School’s Board of Overseers.

Bob Pittman, Chairman and CEO of Clear Channel, joined Langone MBA students for a 2013-2014 Langone Speaker Series event. Professor Charlie Murphy moderated the discussion, beginning with a one-on-one interview and followed by an open Q&A session with students.

Susan Jurevics (MBA ’96), chief executive officer of Pottermore, joined Dean Peter Henry and MBA students for NYU Stern’s Block Lunch event series this spring.

In a discussion hosted by NYU Stern’s Leadership Development Initiative, Dr. David Rock, Co-founder and Director of the NeuroLeadership Institute, spoke to MBA students on March 27 about key neuroscience research findings that have implications for improving leadership best practices.
