SPEC’s Ninth Annual Private Equity Conference

The Stern Private Equity Club’s (SPEC) ninth annual conference will be held on February 28. The conference, themed, “Finding Alpha: Navigating Investment Headwinds in Private Equity,” is designed to provide current students, alumni and industry professionals with networking opportunities and panel discussions focusing on trends and issues facing the private equity and venture capital industries. Tony James, COO and president of Blackstone; Olivier Sarkozy, head of global financial services at The Carlyle Group; Scott Higbee, head of investment solutions at Partners Group; and Mark Davis, founder and managing partner of Interplay Ventures, will be the featured keynote speakers.

The conference will offer eight thematic panels: Leveraged Buyout, Real Estate, Energy, Distressed, Venture Capital & Growth, HealthCare, Emerging Markets, and Limited Partners & Secondaries. In addition to the aforementioned keynotes, confirmed speakers include Daniel Posner, head of opportunistic credit strategy for Golub Capital; John Leone, managing director at emerging markets private equity for PineBridge Investments; Rahul Culas, managing director and co-head of the energy mezzanine opportunities group for the Carlyle Group; Rory Riggs, investment chair for Royalty Pharma; Justin Bateman, senior partner for BC Partners; Chris Perriello, managing director and partner for AlpInvest Partners; Coburn Packard, partner for Apollo Global Management; David Wachter, managing director for W Capital Partners; and Susan Garret, managing director and head of private equity for Prudential.
