Entrepreneurs’ Exchange Club (EEX) at the SXSW Interactive Conference

On March 8th, NYU Stern’s Entrepreneurs’ Exchange Club (EEX) will send more than 50 MBA students to Austin for the SXSW Interactive Conference. Over the past few years, SXSW Interactive has emerged as the premier event for entrepreneurs and entertainment/media/technology aficionados, and during the conference, attendees have the opportunity to attend panels, demo new products and make connections that may results in jobs or partnerships down the line.

Aside from the many startups that will be present, a number of large companies also send representatives to the SXSW festivals. The list of major companies attending includes, but is not limited to: Google, Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo, Ebay, PayPal, Square, Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler, Facebook, Intel, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Groupon, Thrillist, Adobe, Noodle, IDEO, Ford, Method, Linkedin, LivingSocial and frog design.

In order to raise awareness about Stern’s entrepreneurship, media and technology opportunities, EEX has also secured a “SternHouse” in South Austin for the duration of the festival. In addition to identifying interest group leaders to help with planning out daily agendas, EEX hopes to use the SternHouse as a rallying point for Stern alumni and for other students with a shared interest in technology.

NYU Stern programing at SXSW Interactive will include a cocktail mixer for alumni and current and admitted students, an “SXSW MBA Night” event open to MBA students from all schools attending, the SternHouse entrepreneur and product showcase, and daily speaker events and demos at the SternHouse.

MBA student Ben Colman, vice president of EEX and director of ‘NYU Stern @ SXSW Interactive,’ states, “This is the first year that we will have an official SternHouse to welcome Sternies (past and present), partner schools, startups, and technology firms. With over 50 current Sternies confirmed, the SXSW Interactive Conference will be the largest annual Stern-attended conference. Austin will present the best opportunity for Sternies seeking jobs and internships in the technology, media and startup communities.”
