Excerpt from Poets & Quants-- "Not that Stern had a huge hole to climb out of — last year’s jobs report, while reflecting the reality of a market in the throes of a global pandemic, included plenty of evidence that MBAs from NYU find the jobs they want, where they want, for the salaries they want. This year continues the trend, with Stern’s Class of 2021 setting new school records in compensation, overall job acceptance rate, and international job acceptance rate — among other (mostly) positively trending numbers."

As far as our essays, we introduced a new prompt based on Stern’s brand call to action around embracing change – a prescient call we launched before the pandemic whose relevancy increased by the day. This essay gives candidates a creative opportunity to demonstrate how they align with our values and respond to change, a skill which is more important than ever for their future careers."

Excerpt from U.S. News -- "NYU's part-time MBA students may choose to participate in an accelerated two-year program that requires classes on weeknights, or they can pursue their MBA with a flexible timetable and take classes on either weeknights or Saturdays."

A sampling of media highlights for the week of October 12, 2021

Participants will develop an inclusive leadership mindset, with a focus on working with others across differences of multiple types, including gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability and age. The course examines how to surmount the negative impact that implicit bias can have on performance, team dynamics and efforts to create inclusive environments. Through self-reflective exercises, interactive sessions and group work, the course will move from building awareness of practices that foster diversity and inclusion, to helping participants create an inclusive leadership plan that results in stronger teams and organizations.

Excerpt from Poets & Quants-- "By the numbers, Stern enjoyed one of its best years ever during the 2020-2021 cycle. Notably, the school received 3,958 applications for a spot in the Class of 2023. That’s up 306 applications from the previous years. However, that’s not the best number. Stern’s acceptance rate dropped from 29% to 19%, making it one of the most selective MBA programs in the United States."

Excerpt from Executive Courses-- "Stern integrates real-world experience into the course too. 'We have the students work on cases in small groups and then work together, also in small groups, to create an ESG investment product using one of a variety of sustainable investing strategies we share with them,' says Whelan."
 
"Demand among executive participants is extremely high, she says, because it is becoming very clear that ESG issues will be affecting corporate performance and viability and thus investor performance for years to come."

Excerpt from MBA Schooled -- "Lisa Rios is the Assistant Dean of MBA Admissions at NYU Stern. This past month, NYU Stern’s Full-Time MBA program announced that they received an 8% increase in applications and welcomed 360 full-time MBA students into the class of 2023. During our conversation, Lisa spoke about some of the highlights from last year’s MBA application cycle at NYU Stern and some of her reflections and learnings on the application cycle."

In August, NYU Stern’s Master of Science in Quantitative Management (MSQM) Program, the first online Master’s in Management in the US at a top-ranked business school, welcomed the Class of 2022 and Class of 2023 to campus in NYC for one of two immersive residential opportunities that are part of the MSQM curriculum. 

This program will introduce you to a variety of analytical frameworks related to leadership and will focus on how to apply those frameworks to analyze and address important leadership challenges.

Excerpt from Clear Admit-- "Assistant Dean of MBA Admissions Lisa Rios credits Stern’s applicant-centric approach and coronavirus response measures in adding additional test options and waivers for the increased demand and growth in the program. 'The combination of a more seamless process for applicants and continued strong demand for our rigorous program led to an 8% increase in applications as well as a total enrollment of 360 students in the Class of 2023,' said Dean Rios. That is up from 317 for the previous year."

Excerpt from BusinessBecause-- "In 2020, many business schools introduced waivers on standardized tests like the GMAT. However, according to Lisa Rios, assistant dean of admissions at NYU Stern, few students took up the offer.
 
'The overwhelming majority of applicants for Fall 2021 admitted a standardized test,' she says."

Excerpt from Find MBA--  "Stern leverages its unique location in New York City to facilitate opportunities for MBA students to solve real-world business problems. MBA students can, for instance, immerse themselves in an early-stage technology company, or work in partnership with a company to solve their most critical branding challenges. In addition, students can join the board of a nonprofit organization."

This two-day program covers: the true meaning and sources of power; the skills needed for effective political management of organizational problems; an understanding of your own political mindscape; and a personal plan for successful political management of conflict. It is designed for middle, upper middle and senior level managers interested in strengthening their political and conflict management skills to enhance their influence and productivity.

On Friday, September 24, NYU Stern's Center for Global Economy and Business will host the David K. Backus Memorial Lecture with guest John B. Taylor to discuss "Global Monetary Policy Rules After the Pandemic."

Excerpt from Find MBA-- “'We know they will need to reskill multiple times over the course of their careers,' says Bryan Ramos, assistant dean for experiential and global education at NYU Stern. 'Learning and reflecting through the experiential learning cycle helps students to build muscle they need to take into future learning environments.'”

On Friday, September 17, NYU Stern's Vincent C. Ross Institute of Accounting Research and NYU Stern's Volatility & Risk Institute will jointly host the conference "What Should the Rules Be For Cryptoassets? Accounting, Regulatory, and Legislative Perspectives."

The last year and a half have dramatically changed the work environment at most organizations, and have forced us to rethink how to accomplish collaboration, innovation and productivity. This has resulted in new technologies, organizational practices and norms that have enabled fundamental changes in how we come together and create things. In this fast-paced conference, scholars and practitioners will share their knowledge about managing remote innovation and/or the new technologies and practices that are enabling it. We will hear their lessons learned, and some predictions for what we might see in the future.
