Where are the new Emeritus Suites?
The Suites are located on the 7th and 8th floors of KMC at 44 West 4th street.  When exiting the elevator on the 7th or 8th floor, the offices are to the left.  There is an internal staircase between the floors to facilitate access and collaboration.

There appear to be many offices in the new suites.  Are they all for emeritus professors?
No, the suites include a combination of dedicated, shared and hotel-style offices for permanent, emeritus and visiting faculty.  Emeritus professors work side-by-side with current faculty. It is called the “Emeritus Suites” to honor our distinguished professors.

How do I reserve an office in the Emeritus Suites?
Send an email with your name and the dates/times that you need an office to Alex Garcia (agarcia@stern.nyu.edu).  Alex will reserve an office (based on availability) and send you confirmation.  When you arrive on the day of your reservation, go directly to the KMC 8th floor reception desk where Alex will issue you an office key, and a locker assignment and combination.  The key must be returned at the end of your reservation. You may retain the use of your locker indefinitely if you expect to return to Stern on a frequent basis.

Can I request the same office every time?
Office reservations are based on availability.  The Emeritus Suites reservation system is also designed so that no one office is designated to any individual. Each reservation you make will likely be for a different office.  Offices may be reserved for multiple consecutive days, but only for specific hours of occupancy as they are intended to be used during daytime and evening hours.

Can I leave my belongings in the office or save files to the computer?
Your belongings should not be left in the office since there will be multiple occupants.  Lockers were built for this purpose.  You will receive a locker assignment and combination when you arrive and all of your personal items should be left in the assigned locker.  Files cannot be saved to the computers or the network in the offices.  Anything that is saved on the computer or network will be wiped overnight.  Please save all of your work to a cloud storage system such as Google Drive or Dropbox, or to a flash drive.  Our IT group would be happy to assist if you have questions or need assistance.

Will I be able to keep my phone extension?

You will retain your Stern phone number (if applicable), allowing you to reach your voicemail from anywhere.  You can also call out long distance from the office phones using your current access code (if applicable).  If you are expecting incoming calls, please give the following phone number to the person who is trying to reach you and the call will be transferred to your Emeritus office phone: 212-998-4004 (Alex Garcia).

Is there a conference room available in the space?

Yes, there are several conference rooms of different sizes available on the 7th and 8th floors.  Reservations can also be made through Alex Garcia (agarcia@stern.nyu.edu).

Are the offices large enough for visitors?
Yes, each office was designed to allow for one or two visitors.  Conference rooms are available for larger meetings.

What other facilities are available near the new suites?
Each floor is equipped with a pantry (refrigerator w/icemaker and microwave), copier and lockers.
