The Cohort Community

From the moment you arrive on campus, the Stern Cohort Program provides you with a community of friends and a network of support.

UGRAD Stern Advantage Vision and Values StudentsOn your first day of orientation, you become part of a 60-person cohort that will be a source of friendship and support throughout your time at Stern. Every Stern community is named after one of the New York neighborhoods to increase awareness of your new home and emphasize that we are an integral part of New York City.

It all starts as you begin exploring the city together as freshmen participating in weekly sessions at Stern. Through the Cohort Leadership Project (CLP) during your first semester, you enjoy social events on and off campus, professional development forums, corporate visits, and more with members of your cohort.

Past cohort social events include:
Some of Stern’s most successful alumni sponsor the Cohort Program, and have taken students to the New York Stock Exchange, corporate offices of AIG and PricewaterhouseCoopers, and to dinners and shows in the city.

"Being part of the Stern community is exceptional, and through experiences like the Cohort Program I've already learned a great deal about leadership and how to network in the business world." Scott Gamm

"During Welcome Week, the Orientation Leaders were valuable resources helping me navigate new territory, and I got to know my fellow cohort members who were experiencing Stern for the first time with me. There was at least one familiar face in almost all my first-year classes and everyone makes each other feel like a member of a larger family." Mark Salzman
