NYU Students, Alumni and Faculty to Compete for a Record $300K in Stern’s 2016-2017 Entrepreneurs Challenge

300K Entrepreneurs Challenge Kickoff
More than 500 aspiring entrepreneurs from across the NYU student, faculty and alumni communities gathered in Paulson Auditorium for the 2016-2017 Entrepreneur’s Challenge Kick-Off. Attendees received information about NYU Stern’s Annual New Venture Competition and Social Venture Competition – both sponsored by Stern’s W.R. Berkley Innovation Lab – and NYU’s Annual Technology Venture Competition, hosted by Stern’s Berkley Innovation Lab and the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute.

The NYU Stern Entrepreneurs Challenge is the premier platform for identifying, nurturing and showcasing entrepreneurial talent at NYU. Lasting eight months, it provides aspiring entrepreneurs with frameworks, mentoring and financial support to stimulate new venture creation. Prizes of cash and advisory services totaling a record $300K -- up from $200K last year -- will be awarded to the winners of this year’s competitions.

Professor Luke Williams, executive director of the Berkley Innovation Lab, described the four phases of the Entrepreneurs Challenge: Discover, Design, Develop and Deliver.  He also highlighted the calendar of events, including boot camps, coaching sessions, practice pitches and clinics. Professor Cynthia Franklin, director of the Berkley Innovation Lab, shared the details and eligibility requirements for each of the three competitions and Frank Rimalovski, executive director of the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute, described the Technology Venture Competition.
