NYU Stern’s Business & Society Program hosted Innocence Project Staff Attorney Seema Saifee and Darryl Howard, who was exonerated after serving 24 years for a wrongful murder conviction, this fall. Addressing an audience of Stern undergraduate students, Saifee highlighted the role of racial discrimination, negligence and socioeconomic factors in the wrongful convictions of men and women and the Innocence Project’s mission to overturn these convictions. Howard, who was wrongfully convicted of murder and arson in North Carolina in 1991, was legally and officially exonerated on September 2, 2016.
