Biography

Prof. Dario Salerno is Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business, New York University, where he also served as Visiting Exchange Professor. He is currently Associate Professor of Banking and Finance at the University of Naples “Parthenope”, and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Business, Climate Change, and Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh. With a strong interdisciplinary profile, his research and teaching activities lie at the intersection of financial innovation, sustainable finance, and banking systems.

Prof. Salerno holds a Ph.D. in Banking and Finance with a European Doctorate Label from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. His international academic career includes research appointments at NYU Stern, the University of Glasgow, and the City College of New York. He is Principal Investigator of a major European-funded project (PRIN PNRR 2022), focusing on the integration of climate-related risks into macro-financial stability assessments. His contributions have been widely published in high-ranking academic journals such as the Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, International Review of Financial Analysis and Journal of International Financial Management & Accounting.

Prof. Salerno is deeply engaged in academic leadership and scientific dissemination. He is Co- founder and Board Member of FinClimate Lab, a research laboratory dedicated to climate and social finance, and Global Advisory Member of the Oxford Impact Group (UK). He is actively involved in postgraduate education through his lectures in the MEIM Master’s Program in collaboration with the MIT Sloan School of Management, and the Financial and Risk Management Master jointly organized with the University of Bologna and Our Lady of Good Counsel University.

He serves as Associate Editor or Guest Editor for numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the International Journal of Finance & Economics, Qualitative Research in Financial Markets, Research in Iternational Business and Finance and Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility. He also wrote a book on sustainability issues entitled “The Evolution of Sustainable Investments and Finance”. He was also consultant for Fideuram Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking on the topics: “Thematic and engagement strategies and Sustainable finance in asset management” and Consultant for Italian Banking Association (ABI) on the topics: Investment risk profiling and FinTech and InsurTech. He was also lecturer for Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management. The master program is offered by Parthenope University in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management (MIT Sloan) in Cambridge, USA. He has also collaborated with Prince Sultan University by teaching classes for CEO and financial manager on Corporate Governance, IPOs, Venture Capital and Trade rises within the Elite program of the Saudi Stock Exchange. He is Principal Investigator of a project funded by the European Union entitled "Incorporating climate-related risks into financial stability assessments: where are we now and how can we move forward?". Prof. Salerno regularly participates in international conferences and doctoral programs, and contributes to policy-oriented initiatives related to fintech, ESG, and climate resilience in financial markets. His work is distinguished by a strong commitment to bridging academic excellence with societal impact and institutional innovation.
