Biography

Joshua Walker is the Chief Strategy Officer for WarnerMedia Direct-to-Consumer, a business unit within WarnerMedia that currently focuses on the HBO Max streaming service. In this role, Josh oversees development and execution of WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer strategic plans as well as leading projects to drive the business forward, domestically and internationally. Josh’s teams also cover industry and competitive analysis, handle M&A evaluations, oversee HBO Max podcasting business operations and strategy and lead WarnerMedia Content Experiences, including the WarnerMedia Ride in-car entertainment service. In addition, Josh oversees the Direct-to-Consumer research team, which conducts consumer, marketing, brand, product and industry research for the organization.

Josh was previously Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President of Financial Planning for WarnerMedia Entertainment. In that role, Josh oversaw strategic and financial planning for the former WarnerMedia business unit, which included HBO, Cinemax, TNT, tbs, truTV, HBO Max and Otter Media. Prior to that role, Josh served as Senior Vice President, Distribution Business Affairs for HBO, Inc. In that role, Josh structured and negotiated content distribution deals and strategic new media partnerships with media companies that include Comcast, Google, Amazon, DIRECTV, Microsoft, Verizon, Apple, Hulu and AT&T. These deals covered distribution of the HBO and Cinemax linear television channels as well as HBO GO, MAX GO and HBO’s direct-to-consumer product, HBO NOW. Prior to joining HBO in 2010, Josh practiced law at the firms Chadbourne & Parke LLP and Davis & Gilbert LLP in New York City, focusing his practice on M&A, financing deals and media work.

Josh earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Stern School of Business in 2015, a Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School in 2002 and a Bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University at Buffalo in 1999.
