Joshua Walker is Senior Vice President, Strategy & Financial Planning at HBO. In this role, Josh oversees development and execution of the company’s strategic plans as well as all financial analysis and planning for HBO’s domestic and international distribution, licensing, content acquisition, new business, programming investment and other strategic investments. Josh’s teams also handle budgeting and long-term planning, industry and competitive analysis and M&A. Josh was previously Senior Vice President, Distribution Business Affairs. In that role, Josh structured and negotiated content distribution deals and strategic new media partnerships with media companies that include Comcast, Google, Amazon, DIRECTV, Microsoft, Verizon, Apple, Hulu and AT&T. These deals covered distribution of the HBO and Cinemax linear television channels as well as HBO GO, MAX GO and HBO’s direct-to-consumer product, HBO NOW. HBO is the leader in premium television with hit shows such as Game of Thrones, West World, Insecure and Veep, as well as blockbuster films from Warner Brothers, Universal and Fox movie studios, among others. Prior to joining HBO in 2010, Josh practiced law at the firms Chadbourne & Parke LLP and Davis & Gilbert LLP in New York City, focusing his practice on M&A as well as finance media deals. Josh earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from the NYU Stern School of Business (2015), a juris doctor from Cornell Law School (2002) and also holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science (1999) and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism (1999) from the University at Buffalo.
