Matt Van Houten is a senior executive with nearly 20 years of experience at the forefront of media, advertising, and technology transformation. As Senior Vice President at DIRECTV Advertising, he leads Product, Partnerships, Operations, and Business Development teams responsible for driving innovation and growth across the company’s multi-billion-dollar advertising business.
A proven leader, Matt has held senior roles at iconic media brands such as Paramount and Warner Bros., as well as major distributors including AT&T and DIRECTV. He is widely respected for his ability to build, monetize, and scale domestic and international advertising businesses, spanning traditional TV and emerging media channels like mobile and streaming platforms. His pioneering work in advanced advertising technology has earned him three EMMY® Awards and several patents. Beyond his corporate achievements, Matt is a passionate educator and industry advocate. He serves as an adjunct professor at NYU’s Stern School of Business, teaching courses on the convergence of entertainment and media. Previously, he spent 15 years teaching at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business. Matt is deeply committed to leveraging media, data, and technology to create impactful, innovative customer centric advertising experiences that deliver measurable results. Matt’s leadership extends to the industry at large. He sits as Chairman of Board for Go Addressable, a nonprofit advancing addressable advertising and Invidi Technologies, a global leader in advertising technology. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, magna cum laude, from the University of San Diego, and an MBA from CUNY Baruch College
