Biography

A strategic leader in television and digital media, Paul Cabana spent 16 years at A+E Networks, rising from Executive Producer to EVP, Head of Programming for The History Channel. He most recently served as EVP, Head of Multiplatform Programming and Digital Media for the company’s full portfolio of brands, including A&E, The History Channel, Lifetime & Biography.

While Head of Programming for the History Channel, he was responsible for leading the network’s slate and bolstering the brand with premium franchises like “The Men Who Built America” and “The World Wars,” both of which were nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Work in Non-Fiction, two of only three times the network has ever been nominated for the award.

As a business leader, he not only helped double The History Channel’s profitability, he also helped steer the brand into an expanding media landscape: launching the HISTORY2 network, transitioning it to Vice, then expanding all of the company’s networks on all emerging platforms, from YouTube to A+E’s own apps and sites.

Cabana is active on a number of boards and non-profits, including The Achievement First Charter School Network and Goodwill NY/NJ. Earlier in his career, Cabana was a producer for “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations,” for which he was also nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Work in Non-Fiction, along with producing other science, lifestyle and history series for Discovery, TLC, and PBS. Before that, Cabana was a new media producer for Fast Company and The Atlantic Monthly magazines. He has an economics degree from Harvard University and an MBA from NYU Stern.
