Dr. Victor C. Mullins is a seasoned higher education leader with extensive experience in academic administration, student affairs, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). He currently serves as the Senior Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at NYU Stern School of Business, where he leads the School’s Inclusion, Diversity, Belonging, and Equity (IDBE) strategy. His work focuses on fostering an inclusive campus climate, promoting community engagement, and integrating inclusive teaching practices into the academic experience.
With a career spanning more than 30 years, Dr. Mullins has held senior leadership roles at several top business schools. Prior to returning to NYU Stern, he served as Associate Dean at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Gies College of Business. His areas of leadership have included admissions, academic advising, retention programming, scholarship administration, and career services — always guided by a student-centered, equity-focused approach.
Dr. Mullins’ leadership philosophy emphasizes collaborative partnership, data-informed decision-making, and systemic change to create lasting impact. He is a recognized voice on issues of DEI, student success, and leadership development, contributing to campus initiatives and national conversations alike.
In addition to his administrative work, Dr. Mullins is an Adjunct Professor at NYU Stern, where he teaches and mentors students aspiring to lead in an increasingly complex and interconnected world. He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and is a certified Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI).
Dr. Mullins holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Higher Education from New York University. Throughout his career, he has remained deeply committed to empowering underrepresented student populations, cultivating inclusive academic environments, and preparing the next generation of diverse leaders
