How did you prepare for the program before you began it?

Before starting at Stern, I spent some time brushing up on my quant skills so I’d feel more confident going into classes. It wasn’t required, but it helped me feel more prepared from day one. I also reached out to current students to learn more about different neighborhoods in the city and figure out where I wanted to live. Those conversations ended up being really helpful - not just for housing, but also for getting a better sense of the resources the school offers and how to get acclimated early on.

What class/professor has made the deepest impression on you?

Dr. Shama Patel’s Digital Strategy course made a lasting impression on me. Dr. Patel taught me not only the fundamentals of digital strategy, but also how to think critically about navigating an evolving business landscape. I especially enjoyed the class project, where I applied the frameworks and concepts we learned in class to an industry I am interested in. This experience pushed me to think beyond theory and approach problems from a strategic, real-world perspective. Her engaging teaching style and emphasis on practical application made the material both accessible and meaningful, and I am excited to carry these skills forward into my career.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

My advice to prospective students would be to keep an open mind and take advantage of opportunities beyond your immediate circle. Attend different events, not just the ones your friends are going to, as this can expose you to new perspectives and experiences. Having an open mind during recruiting is also important - some opportunities may not seem like a perfect fit at first, but they can ultimately help you get your foot in the door. I would also encourage students to actively connect with people from different backgrounds, as these interactions can broaden your perspective and enrich your overall experience.

How has Stern prepared you for the recruiting process?

MCA played a pivotal role in my recruiting experience, supporting me from the very beginning with case preparation and setting clear expectations for the recruiting process through interview season. The club provided consistent guidance and structure, which ensured I never felt lost along the way. The Careers Center also played an important role, as I regularly relied on them for resume feedback and to refine my approach by talking through ideas.

How would you describe the Stern community?

Since starting at Stern, I’ve consistently felt that there are people who genuinely want to help you succeed. Whether it’s prepping for an interview or getting advice on which classes to take, there’s always a Sternie willing to offer guidance and support. What initially drew me to Stern was how strongly students emphasized the sense of community, and that’s something you really experience firsthand once you’re in the program and get involved on campus.
