DHL Initiative on Globalization | Speaker Series

Caroline Freund, Dean of the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy, joins Steven Altman, Director of NYU Stern's DHL Initiative on Globalization, for a virtual "fireside chat" on Covid-19 and the Future of Global Trade. Dr. Freund will shed light on the growth of global value chains and how Covid-19 is affecting international trade. She will also discuss surprising research findings on how natural disasters and 3D printing have impacted trade flows.

University of Pennsylvania Prof. Diana C. Mutz joins NYU Stern's Steven Altman for a virtual "fireside chat" to share insights from her new book "Winners and Losers: The Psychology of Foreign Trade." Prof Mutz's research challenges conventional wisdom about what drives public opinion on international trade, identifying psychological factors that shape trade policy preferences and showing how understanding public opinion can lead to lasting economic and societal benefits.

Prof. Mauro F. Guillén joined NYU Stern Prof. Sinziana Dorobantu to share insights and answer questions from his new book "2030: How Today's Biggest Trends Will Collide and Reshape the Future of Everything". Prof. Guillén's research agenda addresses both how companies internationalize and how globalization affects patterns of organization and the diffusion of innovations and crises.
