Professor Kristen Sosulski Discusses Her Book “Data Visualization Made Simple” in an Author Lecture Series Event

Professor Kristen Sosulski
Professor Kristen Sosulski (BS '99) joined a room full of Stern alumni—and many of her former students—for an Author Lecture Series event to discuss her new book, Data Visualization Made Simple: Insights Into Becoming Visual. Helen Todd, co-founder and CEO of Sociality Squared, moderated an engaging conversation about best practices for data graphics and the many fascinating insights that come from effective data visualization.

Professor Sosulski kicked off the the discussion by sharing her aha moment with data visualization: when she combined data with film study in graduate school. She showed a scene from the movie Psycho along with the graphs she created to chart how the movie builds suspense.

Alumni Council Member Phil Nuzhdin (BS ’12) welcomed the speakers and kicked off the evening with introductory remarks. After the discussion and Q&A, guests enjoyed a reception and book signing with Professor Sosulski.
