What is Stern looking for in their applicants?
NYU Stern evaluates each candidate holistically across three dimensions throughout their complete application: academic profile, professional achievements and aspirations, and personal characteristics. We seek students with strong intellectual ability, superior interpersonal skills, and a desire to create value for business and society. Many questions regarding specific eligibility requirements, including the GMAT/GRE, TOEFL, and academic transcript components of the application, can be answered by visiting the Admissions section of our website. We also encourage you to review our admissions Policies on our website.

What are the undergraduate degree requirements to apply to Stern?
Students entering Stern's MBA program are required to hold a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or an equivalent degree from a foreign country (for example, for applicants from India, all three-year Bachelor's degrees are sufficient to apply). A list of accepted international degrees and further details of requirements may be found on the Transcripts & Degrees section of our Admissions website.

What is the process for re-application?
Re-applicants must submit a complete, new application to the program of their choice, including recommendations and essays.  Re-applicants may not need to re-submit official test score reports (GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, IELTS) if the scores are still valid.  Review our standardized test requirements to determine if your scores are still valid.

What is the average score for the GRE?

We do not publish average GRE scores due to the short time we have been accepting the test. Please note we do not have a minimum GRE score needed to apply.

Are there any minimum test scores required to apply?

Please note there are no minimum score requirements to apply. Please view the Standardized Test section of our admissions website for further details.

Does Stern have a preference between the GMAT and GRE exam?

NYU Stern accepts both the GMAT and the GRE and does not have a preference as to which exam you choose to take. Please view the Standardized Test section of our admissions website for further details.

Is it possible to waive the GMAT/GRE?

The GMAT or GRE is a required component of an application to NYU Stern MBA programs. While applicants can take either test, they cannot be admitted without a GMAT or GRE score. Please view the Standardized Test section of our admissions website for further details.

Is there a minimum amount of work experience required to apply?

Full-time work experience is not a prerequisite to apply and we review all work experience, including internships and part-time work, in our evaluation. Please note that in the Professional Information section of your application you should only tally months of full-time, post-college work experience. Internships, part-time work and other experience may be included on your resume and work history.

What is the total cost of attendance?

Information regarding the cost of attendance and tuition may be found on the Financial Aid section of the website for the program you are interested in (Full-time MBA/ Part-time MBA/ Fashion and Luxury MBA/ Tech MBA).

Can I take classes as a non-matriculated student?

Non-matriculated students cannot enroll in Stern MBA courses. However, NYU Stern offers non-credit, 2 - 3 day Short Courses on the latest management thinking and practices. The NYU School of Professional Studies also offers courses in a wide variety of subjects, such as Finance, Marketing, Management and E-Business.

What recruiting opportunities are available for Part-time MBA students?

The Part-time MBA program is geared toward working professionals seeking advanced business knowledge and a network needed to progress within their current field or industry. As such, Part-time MBA students do not have access to on-campus recruiting. Students in the Part-time MBA program have access to the Career Center for Working Professionals (CCWP). The CCWP is designed to provide the Langone working professional with life-long career support while at Stern and as an alum.

Do you have an online program?

At this time, we do not offer any degree-granting online MBA programs. NYU Stern's MBA programs (Full-time/Part-time Manhattan/Part-time Westchester/Tech MBA/ Fashion and Luxury MBA) are conducted in person. NYU Stern does offer two online certificate programs. Please visit the Online Certificates website for more information.

Are admissions officers available for appointments?

While we do not offer 1:1 meetings with members of the Admissions Committee, and our interviews are by invitation-only, we offer a tour and information session during the week. If you are interested in the Full-time MBA, Tech MBA or Fashion and Luxury MBA, please check the Visit Stern section of our website for dates and times as well as directions to NYU Stern. These informal sessions last approximately 60-90 minutes and include a friendly on-campus tour led by second-year MBA students or a member of the Admissions Committee. The tours include detailed information about Stern's MBA programs, and allow plenty of time for questions and answers. Reservations are not necessary. If you are interested in the Part-time Manhattan or Part-time MBA in Westchester program, please check the Meet with Us section of the websites for upcoming information sessions and events

Can I speak to an alum?

We encourage you to contact our current second-year MBA Graduate Ambassadors at mbaga@stern.nyu.edu to learn more about the Stern experience. Our alumni remain very engaged with Stern and meet with prospective students while attending our on-campus events and off-campus information sessions.
