About Andrea M. Prado

Andrea M. Prado returns to New York University in the Fall of 2023 as a Scholar in Residence, to teach at the Business & Society Program. Her research explores the role of businesses to achieve sustainable development in the countries where they operate, particularly through their corporate social responsibility strategies and the delivery of products and services to low- income populations. She also studies the impact and dynamics of industry self-regulation (e.g., adoption of voluntary certification programs) to promote environmental and labor practices in emerging economies.

Prado has published her research in business journals, such as Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Journal of Business Ethics, and Academy of Management Perspectives, and in Global Health journals including The Lancet Global Health, Journal of Global Health, and Global Health Action. She received the Best Dissertation Award from the Organizations and the Natural Environment Division, at the Academy of Management.

Prado is the Strachan Associate Professor of Management and Organizations at INCAE Business School in Costa Rica, where besides her sustainability and global health research projects and teaching responsibilities, she leads the “Doing Business in Costa Rica” for Stern MBA students who visit every year. She was the Academic Director of the Central American Healthcare Initiative (CAHI) since its inception in 2012 to 2019 and is currently working to relaunch the CAHI Jeffe fellowship program in 2024. Prado was awarded a Fulbright scholarship for her PhD studies and a Chevening scholarship for MSc. studies.
