Gurpal S. Sran joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in July 2022.
Sran's research primarily examines (i) the transparency and risk-taking incentives that shape the nature of firms' investment and disclosure decisions and (ii) the impacts of those decisions on various stakeholders. A central focus of his work relates to the interaction of internal decisions, external disclosures, and stakeholder impacts in labor- and ESG-related settings.
Prior to pursuing his graduate studies, Sran was a Research Fellow at Stanford Graduate School of Business and an investment banking summer analyst in public finance at Barclays.
Sran received his MBA and PhD from University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his BA in Economics and Biomathematics from Rutgers University.
