About T. Jason Ortiz

Timothy Jason Ortiz is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Management Communication Department at NYU Stern School of Business, where he has taught since 2021.

Outside of teaching, Jason partners with C-suite leaders to help their businesses and organizations perform better. He works in Spencer Stuart’s Leadership Advisory Practice, focusing on CEO succession and executive coaching solutions. He’s part of a small team that has created the CEO Performance Lab, a bespoke, intimate experience that prepares incoming CEOs for the all-encompassing demands of their new role.

Before Spencer Stuart, he spent over a decade in investment banking in infrastructure expansion roles. At Deutsche Bank, he helped build a $1 billion commodities trading franchise; at JPMorgan Singapore, he served as regional business manager for Commercial Banking across 14 Asia-Pacific countries.

After his banking career, he shifted his focus to initiatives rooted in inclusion and access. At S&P Global, he managed a $1 million budget overseeing more than 50 employee resource group chapters. He later joined Section, Prof. Scott Galloway's $30M Series A ed-tech startup, as an early employee to help broaden access to elite MBA insights. Funders include General Catalyst, Learn Capital, and GSV Ventures.

Jason himself holds an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business and a BA from Dartmouth College. The son of Filipino-Chinese immigrants, he is a native Houstonian but calls New York City home. He lives with his partner, Luke, in Greenwich Village.
