Biography

Linda Lindman is an Adjunct Professor at the NYU Stern School of Business. Professor Lindman teaches Real Estate Transactions & the Law, which is a course jointly offered by the Business & Society Program and the Chen Institute of Real Estate Finance.

Professor Lindman is a practicing real estate attorney and a Senior Vice President and Assistant Regional General Counsel for CBRE, Inc., the world’s leading real estate services company, where she has worked in a variety of positions for more than twenty years. In her current role, she partners with senior management to advise them on legal, policy, compliance, and strategic business decisions. Professor Lindman negotiates ground-breaking, national, and international master services agreements, management, brokerage, and consulting agreements across CBRE’s service lines. She is considered a company-wide expert in complex deal structures, bankruptcies, and flexible workspace transactions and has negotiated some of CBRE’s major headquarters leases across the United States.

Professor Lindman began her legal career on Wall Street as a litigator at Cahill Gordon & Reindel. Finding that field too adversarial, she found her way to the transactional world of real estate, which has been her specialty ever since. She was a real estate partner at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, then the country’s leading national real estate law firm specializing in real estate finance. Wanting to consistently represent the same client and be more integral in business decision making, Professor Lindman moved in-house to become the general counsel of a boutique real estate company, which was then acquired by CBRE.

Throughout her career, Professor Lindman has been a trainer, mentor, and presenter both within her company and externally. She has been a lecturer at Harvard Law School, Marist College, and FIT and a plenary speaker at a variety of conferences on topics ranging from contract drafting, negotiation, and “how to be a closer”. She serves on the faculty of several programs within CBRE, including as an expert on negotiation skills. Over the years, Professor Lindman has created dozens of educational program and interactive and connective programming that have become part of the fabric of the organization.
