NYU Accounts
All new NYU Stern doctoral students are allocated three separate accounts - an NYU account, an NYU Stern student account, and an NYU Stern faculty account.
These accounts are separate entities and will usually have different usernames and passwords (although you can set the same password for all if you wish). As a Stern student, you will primarily use your Stern faculty account for computer, network, and email access. You will use your student account when accessing student-related resources.
All new doctoral students must activate their NYU account by going to the NYU Start page located at http://start.nyu.edu. This site enables you to activate your NYU 'NetID' and set a password, which can be used to log into a variety of NYU online resources. Please note that this account is separate from your Stern accounts. In order to complete the activation process, you should have your NYU ID card on hand, or know your 'University ID' ('N' number) and your NYU 'NetID'.
All new doctoral students must activate their Stern accounts by going to the Start@Stern page located at http://start.stern.nyu.edu. This site enables you to activate your Stern username and set a password, which can be used to log into a variety of Stern online resources. In order to complete the activation process, you will need your 'University ID' ('N' number), NYU 'NetID' and your 'Stern ID' (username). The steps in this process are simple to follow, but if you need help you can follow the step-by-step instructions here: http://www.sterndesktop.com/activate-account.php. Once activated, we recommend that you login to Sternlinks where you can access your Stern email, calendar and more from your personal dashboard (remember: this is not the same as your NYU account email, calendar, etc.; these accounts are separate entities).
