Program Requirements
Year 1 Fall Microeconomics I (GSAS)
    Econometrics I (Stern)
    Macroeconomics I (GSAS)
    Math for Economists I (GSAS)
  Spring Microeconomics II (GSAS)
    Econometrics II (Stern or GSAS)
    Macroeconomics II (GSAS)
    Math for Economists II (GSAS)
    Comprehensive exams in Microeconomics (GSAS) &
Macroeconomics (GSAS)
    Note: To maintain good standing in the program, students must pass both comprehensive exams—either in the Spring of Year 1 or in the Fall of Year 2.
 
Year 2 Fall & Spring Six electives*, and attendance at workshops both semesters
     
   Note: Two electives may be taken in the Fall of Year 3.
Year 3 Spring Research Paper
   Note: To maintain good standing in the program, a student must complete a research paper by the end of Year 3. The paper must be approved and signed by a faculty member of the Stern Economics Department.
 
Year 4 Fall
Spring
Proposal Defense
Seminar Presentation
   Note: To maintain good standing in the program, a student must complete his/her proposal defense by the end of the Fall semester of Year 4, and present his/her own work at a seminar by the end of Year 4.
Students are expected to take a number of math courses at Courant.

STRATEGY TRACK
The requirements for the Strategy track are the same as those above, with the additional requirement of Strategy I and Strategy II courses and a Strategy comprehensive exam at the end of year 2.
