Executive MBA Students Explore Japan and South Korea on Global Study Tour

In May, a group of executive MBA students traveled to Tokyo, Japan and Seoul, South Korea for a Global Study Tour. The students toured the facilities of SparkLabs and Subaru and met with executives from companies such as Doosan Industries, Estée Lauder and NEC. Highlights of the trip also included a visit to Korea’s demilitarized zone (DMZ) as well as a sightseeing tour of Disneyland Tokyo and several other iconic destinations.

"The Global Study Tours are an important component of the Stern Executive MBA experience," explained student Kate Ferranti. "Our class' second Global Study Tour took us to Asia and illuminated the rather stark differences between doing business in South Korea and Japan, as well as the fascinating differences between traditional chaebols or keiretsu versus American companies operating in these two markets. Being on the ground in a foreign country studying an economy really brings to life what we learned in the classroom and in our readings. Our Global Study Tours were also terrific opportunities for bonding with classmates and sharing travel experiences."
