We had a chance to talk with Susan Veksler, BS '03, about her career and the company she co-founded, Caissa, LLC. Caissa is a software development firm that provides front-office software solutions to allow institutions such as endowments, foundations, pension funds, family offices, and CIOs to integrate a wide spectrum of investment-related analytics into a single web-based platform. Susan double majored in Finance and Management and Organizational Behavior while at Stern. 

Tell us about Caissa and why you co-founded it?

“I view each step in my career and education as building blocks,” says Manuel Sansigre, Vice President of Global Corporate Finance at Penguin Random House. “I want to have a full scope of all the different things that are going on in business. I often evaluate: what are the gaps in my education and in my career?”

We caught up with Amy Nelson, MBA '13, on her road to the C-Suite at Venture for America, a nonprofit organization on a mission to cultivate entrepreneurship and revitalize cities through new opportunities. Amy shared with us some of her favorite NYU Stern memories, and how her experiences have shaped her career.

You focused on Economics and Social Innovation and Impact at Stern. What was your background before coming to Stern, and what drew you to these areas of study?

We had a chance to talk with recent Stern grad, Ben Wise, MBA ’13, about his path from nonprofits to consulting and ultimately to something of a dream job at the International Rescue Committee (IRC), a nonprofit organization that responds to humanitarian crises around the world. The IRC currently serves refugees and others affected by conflict in 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities.
 
Before you came to Stern, what was your experience in the nonprofit world? 

“I’m a high-achiever—what really gets me going is the notion that I can make a difference, that I can have impact and contribute,” says Maryse Bertrand about the internal drive that has propelled her distinguished career as a lawyer and corporate director.
