Stern Consulting Corps (SCC)

Stern Consulting Corps (SCC)

In the business world, consultants help analyze and solve organizations’ most challenging problems. Consultants tackle these challenges by applying a structured approach to their analyses; this in turn allows for successful problem-solving across industries. Through the Stern Consulting Corps (SCC), students learn these skills in a hands-on, for-credit course with blue chip brands as the projects partners.

In SCC, teams of MBA students create lasting, business-driven impact with our partners by crafting actionable business plans and targeting opportunities for growth. This is done through the SCC’s partnership with a large and diverse group of for- and non-profit organizations in New York City, the center of the modern business world.

SCC students learn how to solve these complex business problems under the advisement of NYU Stern faculty, while simultaneously testing their skills in real-world settings.

Previous SCC partners have included ABC News, ACCION USA, Carnegie Hall, City Harvest, DASHED, Diane von Furstenberg, Eileen Fischer, Guggenheim Museum, HBO, Hudson Bay Company, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Jet Blue, Juara Skincare, Marcus Samuelsson Group, Metropolitan Opera, Mexicue, National Basketball Association (NBA), New York Historical Society, New York Public Library, UNICEF, Union Square Hospitality Group, United Nations, Verizon, West Elm, and World Wildlife Fund.

Some MBA students are eligible for this program. This program may not be offered each semester or every year. The program offering and teaching faculty are subject to change. Current students can view our CampusGroups website below for more information on eligbility, pre-requisites, the application process, and program policies.

Student Testimonial

Melanie, Spring 2020

“In SCC, I learned how to strategically approach a problem and how to frame and present a solution. I also had an opportunity to work on my client facing and presentation skills. Depending on the project you work on there are other skills you can develop. For me, I also worked on market sizing, survey design, and client journey mapping.

Students who want the opportunity to solve an ambiguous problem that an actual company is facing should take the course. SCC teaches you how to apply logical thinking to break down these problems and form a process to find unique solutions. Since you will be working directly with your client on a weekly basis, it’s also great for students looking to add client facing skills to their resume. There is a misconception that SCC is only for students interested in consulting, but in reality what you learn from the course is applicable in many fields.”
