The finance PhD program at New York University’s Stern School of Business is one of the finest and most competitive programs in the world.
Our faculty, ranked #1 in the Chronicle of Higher Education 2007 survey, consists of more than 40 researchers who study all major areas of finance, making it the largest finance faculty in the country. Stern’s finance faculty is highly rated in terms of research output, and faculty members sit on the editorial boards of all major finance journals.
The department offers an exceptionally large range of courses devoted exclusively to PhD students. Apart from PhD courses in asset pricing, corporate finance, empirical finance, and continuous-time modeling, advanced students can choose from a range of advanced electives in these fields and others such as market microstructure, investments, derivatives, banking, and corporate governance. PhD students also enjoy the benefits of NYU’s world-class economics department and the Courant Institute of Mathematics.
Recent graduates of Stern's finance PhD program have been placed at schools including MIT, University of Chicago, London School of Economics, Harvard, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
