Tech & Society Lab | Carmen Hui Jing Lim

Carmen Lim is a Senior Research Scientist at Tech & Society Lab with expertise in quantitative research, measurement and global health data. She was previously a Senior Researcher in Educational Measurement at Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Carmen holds a master’s in economics from the University of Cambridge and a bachelor’s from Edinburgh. She began her career as a consultant at Aurora Energy Research in Oxford.

Childhood Free Play Memory:
An empty metal can was my stove. A metal can lid as my pan. I lit the stove with dried leaves using candles, with melted wax doubling as cooking oil. My fresh produce of the day was grass, leaves, unpalatable fruits, stones — anything I could forage nearby. The dish I cooked up depended on what I thought my family-member customers and imaginary guests wanted. But I forgot to charge them. The only limit was my imagination.
