I took his New Venture Financing class in the fall on Thursday evenings. He brought so much energy to the three-hour class and created a very engaging environment with lots of student participation. He’s extremely knowledgeable and approachable. He scheduled insightful one-on-one mid-term feedback sessions with each of his 45 students to ensure we understood the material. Today, New York University’s Stern School of Business received a $50 million gift from alumnus Leonard N. Stern (BS ’57, MBA ’59) for undergraduate scholarships in the Stern School, enabling a significant expansion of the School’s Breakthrough Scholars Leadership Program. This gift comes on the heels of another $50 million gift also directed towards undergraduate scholarships earlier this month from NYU Stern alumnus and Chair of the NYU Board of Trustees William R. Berkley (BS ’66) and his wife Marjorie.

"'The Public Sector Plays An Integral Part In Business: 'As part of the Business and Political Economy program, I’ve learned that “institutions matter.” Businesses interact with and rely on a complex network of governmental and cultural institutions in order to succeed. I didn’t truly grasp this concept until I spent a year studying abroad in London and Shanghai, where I was able to witness first-hand how the success of businesses depends greatly on the political structures, cultural norms, and laws and regulations present in a given market (e.g. Brexit!). The private and public sectors are much more intertwined than I ever imagined, and studying business internationally helped me gain a holistic and cross-cultural understanding of why institutions matter in the corporate world.'

Through a combination of lecture, discussion and group exercises, participants will learn about financially material Environmental Social Governance (ESG) indicators and data providers, and learn how to translate corporate performance on sustainability into financial performance.

Excerpt from Clear Admit-- "I had a general storyline in mind when I approached Stern’s Leadership Accelerator. I wanted to make it as realistic as possible in terms of the management dynamics students would encounter post-MBA and the types of personalities students would work with. We decided to center the experience around a product launch, a green juice called the Green Meanie, given that students will likely encounter a launch in some form in their career."

In this four week course, students can progress at their own pace through the key steps of data visualization. The hands-on lessons will focus on techniques for data preparation — how to choose, create, and edit graphics, as well as best practices for presenting your visualizations.

Excerpt from Find MBA-- "NYU Stern offers a variety of MBA scholarships to admitted students, with about 25 percent of the cohort receiving a merit-based scholarship. The majority of these awards cover the full fees or half of tuition. Beyond scholarships, students can receive up some tuition remission by working as a Teaching Fellow (TF) or Graduate Fellow (GF) in Stern’s academic departments. Hundreds of MBA students fill these positions every year. Moreover, Stern runs a Loan Assistance Program, which lessons the burden of repaying business school loans for graduates who pursue careers in social enterprise."

This program will introduce you to a variety of analytical frameworks related to leadership and will focus on how to apply those frameworks to analyze and address important leadership challenges.

Today, New York University’s Stern School of Business unveiled a landmark gift of $50 million, the largest scholarship gift in the School’s history, from the Berkley Family Foundation, established by alumnus William R. Berkley and his wife Marjorie. The gift will provide scholarships to students in Stern’s top-ranked Undergraduate College through a brand-new program to be called the Berkley Achievement Scholars Program. William R. Berkley is the current Chairman of NYU’s Board of Trustees, an NYU Stern alumnus (BS 1966), Chair Emeritus of NYU Stern’s Executive Board, and the founder of W. R. Berkley Corporation, a Fortune 500 commercial lines property and casualty insurance holding company based in Greenwich, Connecticut.

NYU Shanghai and NYU Stern School of Business are expanding their successful partnership to introduce two new one-year Master of Science programs to prepare new and recent college graduates with career ambitions in management and marketing in China and the broader Asia region.

Each year all students in NYU Stern's Executive MBA Washington, DC Program (EMBA DC) participate in a Speaker Series course featuring industry practitioners led by Professor Naomi Diamant, EMBA Programs academic director and Executive Programs assistant dean. 

The year-long course is designed to foster a deeper interdisciplinary understanding and broader perspective of current issues, opportunities, and challenges leaders face in today’s dynamic business environment.

During the Spring 2021 semester, the course featured Margaret-Ann Cole (TRIUM ‘04), Chief People and Transformation Officer at Porter Novelli; Jonathan Craig, Senior Executive Vice President of Investor Services and Marketing at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc; and Corie Pauling, TIAA Senior Vice President, Chief of Inclusion & Diversity, and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Excerpt from Poets & Quants-- "I chose Stern because, at my core, I am a community-driven person. Stern’s full-time class size of approximately 350 students is, in my opinion, the sweet spot. It is small enough that everyone knows most of their classmates, but not so small that everyone is in each other’s business. Excerpt from Poets & Quants-- "Looking back at my time at Stern, I am most proud of the work I completed during my Stern Solutions Project. For this class, I worked in a group of five with the nonprofit organization called The Last Prisoner Project. Our project was aimed at improving their fundraising so that the organization could increase its impact and improve their ability to advocate for criminal justice reform. What I thought would be a project that would improve my strategic thinking ended up being so much more."
