Professor and Dean Emeritus Peter Blair Henry joined a virtual roundtable hosted by the United Nations entitled “Rebirthing the Global Economy to Deliver Sustainable Development” on November 24, 2020.

It backed Sapient Industries, which uses machine learning to improve electrical grid efficiency, and has itself been deployed on campus to reduce carbon footprint."

Excerpt from FindMBA -- "NYU Stern professor Anindya Ghose, in New York, says the key technical skills required are data modeling, data visualization and predictive modeling. Students acquire these skills from coursework such as statistical modeling, data engineering, programming, econometric modeling and from machine learning experiments.

However, soft skills such as communication are also crucial. 'The key soft skills required are the ability to tell a story from mining the data and the ability to lead a team with eclectic individuals from disparate work experiences,' Ghose says."

"Globalization Beyond 2020: Time for a Reset?" – hosted by DHL and the Initiative on Globalization at NYU Stern's Center for the Future of Management – will look at how the events in 2020 have impacted international business, and will discuss their implications for years to come. It will explore the resilience of global supply chains and the extent to which international connectedness can help us mitigate the effects of the pandemic.

Excerpt from Poets & Quants -- "This year’s list features professors from 33 of the world’s best undergraduate business programs. Of the 33, three have campuses based outside of the U.S. The list also includes a record 23 women. Obviously, multiple schools received more than one professor on the list. New York University’s Stern School of Business had the highest representation of professors, landing five professors on this year’s list."

Each year all students in NYU Stern's Executive MBA Washington, DC Program (EMBA DC) participate in a Speaker Series course featuring industry practitioners led by Professor Naomi Diamant, EMBA Programs academic director and Executive Programs assistant dean. 

The year-long course is designed to foster a deeper interdisciplinary understanding and broader perspective of current issues, opportunities, and challenges leaders face in today’s dynamic business environment.

During the Fall 2020 semester, the course featured Nate Yohannes, Technical Advisor and Corporate Strategy Leader to the Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft and Dr. Joe Stauffer (TRIUM ‘09), Chief Medical Officer at Antibe Therapeutics.

As part of his role he’s responsible for overseeing Stern’s Experiential Learning programs, branded Stern Solutions, for MBA students. During our conversation, we spoke about the importance of experiential learning in higher education, and how Stern has created a new model and unique set of offerings for MBA students that engages them in an iterative process of immersion, acting and reflecting.”

Excerpt from U.S. News -- “Though MBA graduates who work in the finance industry, including in accounting, are often paid a six-figure salary, graduates of certain highly selective business schools are paid especially well. Based on U.S. News data, 2019 graduates from these 44 business schools who work in the finance or accounting sector have an average salary greater than $100,000.”

“For Dan, the Military Veterans Club (MVC) has provided community within Stern from the very beginning. ‘The day before my Stern interview, an MBA student from the club reached out to offer support,’ he told me. Now, it is his turn. As co-presidents, Dan and Johnny have focused on strengthening networking opportunities through club activities. At the same time, they have connected MVC to the executive MBA and part-time programs at Stern to widen the actual network and increased the pipeline by partnering directly with admissions to find the best candidates.”

The program is designed for US military veterans and active duty students to support their transition to business school. Through the program, all of the veterans take two classes together (accounting and statistics) during the summer before the first year of the MBA program. During the program, we also had the opportunity to visit the offices of companies such as JP Morgan, Boston Consulting Group, and Google. Students who are accepted into the program are eligible to receive the Fertitta Veterans Scholarship. I’m incredibly grateful to alumnus Lorenzo (MBA ’93) and his brother Frank J. Fertitta III for their generous gift which established the program, and their recognition of the value veterans bring to the workforce.’”
