Students in the inaugural cohorts of the new one-year master’s programs offered jointly by NYU Shanghai and NYU Stern — the MS in Marketing and Retail Science & MS in Organization Management and Strategy programs — attended orientation in person in New York and virtually from Shanghai on June 1 and subsequently started their summer classes with NYU Stern professors.

On Tuesday, May 31, NYU Stern’s Business and Society Program (BSP) hosted the 2022 Ashok C. Sani Distinguished Scholar-In-Residence Lecture, delivered by Rubana Huq, Vice Chancellor of Asian University for Women and Ex-President of BGMEA. This year's talk is entitled, "Empowering Women Garment Workers in Bangladesh: From Rana Plaza to an Entrepreneurial Future."

Excerpt from Poets & Quants -- “The interest is very strong,” says Isser Gallogly, associate dean of MBA admissions and program innovation, at NYU Stern. “Over 25% of all the part-time applicants wanted it as their first choice option. This is the first intake but we have more women applying to it than men. About 51% of our applicants are women.

Excerpt from Town & Country -- “We have found that because our students come in as senior executives with significant work experience (an average of 14 years), and they submit transcripts from undergraduate and graduate programs, along with any certifications they might have earned, we already have enough data points to measure academic preparedness for the program without a standardized test score,” Neha Singhal, assistant dean for executive degree programs, admissions, and marketing at NYU Stern, said in a statement. “In fact, we have found that the data points based on work experience and academic performance are a better indicator of a student's success in the program versus a standardized test score.”

This workshop draws on the best fundamental and applied thinking about the financial architecture drawing on academic and practitioner research and networks. It tries to look over the horizon at what is likely to come next based on the best available thinking.

They also don’t always neatly fit the frameworks we study in strategy, which makes for a fun and interesting conversations in class."

Excerpt from Financial Times -- "In Stern’s Leadership for the 21st Century course, Fraser teaches a module on developing intercultural competence — the ability to collaborate effectively with people of different cultural backgrounds. The key is understanding, through an open dialogue, people’s various dimensions of difference in order to connect and relate to them on a human level, he says."

At the conclusion of an eight-month competition, NYU’s most promising innovators received startup funding and pro-bono services valued at more than $225,000 at NYU Stern’s annual Entrepreneurs Challenge, organized by the School’s Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship.

On Friday, May 13, the final teams in the Entrepreneurs Challenge, hosted by NYU Stern's Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship, will pitch off to see which ventures win the grand prizes.
