Undergraduate Office Assistant
The Department of Accounting at NYU’s Stern School of Business has 5-6 office assistant positions open for non-Stern undergraduate students through the Work-Study Program. We are seeking professional, responsible, and detail-oriented undergraduate students to join our team. This role plays a key part in supporting the department’s faculty, staff, students, and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact at the department’s front desk by greeting all visitors, checking in guests, directing them to offices, and maintaining a quiet and professional reception area
- Monitor and restock supplies in the kitchen, copy rooms, and supply closet, and retrieve items as needed for faculty and staff
- Sort and distribute incoming mail and packages
- Make copies or scans upon request
- Clean surfaces and assist with general office organization
- Assist with setting up department events and meetings
- Answer the department phone, respond to general inquiries, and direct calls as needed
- Utilize university directories to locate contact information
Will Learn To:
- Communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and visitors
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Support department events and logistics
- Navigate university systems and troubleshoot office equipment
Required Qualifications:
- Current NYU undergraduate student with Federal Work-Study
- Non-Stern student
- Able to commit to working 15-20 hours per week for the fall and spring semesters
General Qualifications:
- Experience working in an office or customer service setting is a plus
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented and proactive
- Reliable and punctual
Schedule:
This is an on-campus, in-person position requiring a commitment of 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters during hours of operation: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.
Hours during the summer and winter semesters are also available for students who are local during those times.
Evaluation:
- There will be a mid-semester and end-of-semester evaluation and weekly check-ins with the position supervisor.
Pay Rate:
This role is intended for undergraduate student employees and follows the standard hourly undergraduate pay rate established by the university for student office assistants, as listed:
- 2026: $17.00/hr
NYC Pay Transparency Act: In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base salary range for student employment positions is $16.50-$18 (or applicable rate/range).
