Allison Avery
Allison Avery is an executive leadership coach and transformative people and culture strategist, dedicated to helping organizations cultivate human potential and build environments where individuals and businesses thrive.
With over two decades of experience spanning healthcare, media, the arts, and professional services, she integrates psychological insight, strategic acumen, and operational expertise to drive organizational transformation and leadership development. As interim Chief People Officer at the Brooklyn Museum and former Chief People & Flourishing Officer at SYPartners, a boutique management consulting firm, Allison has led human-centered strategies that enhance both business performance and individual growth.
Her global perspective on leadership and human behavior was shaped early in her career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco and an English teacher in Istanbul, experiences that deepened her sensitivity to culture and context across varied settings. She further refined her expertise through a graduate school practicum at JP Morgan Chase in outplacement counseling, gaining hands-on experience in industrial psychology, career transitions, and the psychology of work.
Building on this foundation, Allison earned a master’s degree in applied psychology from NYU Steinhardt School and went on to complete postgraduate psychoanalytic training as a Jungian analyst, equipping her with a unique lens on human dynamics, organizational change, and talent strategy. She also holds an Executive Certificate in Human Resources Management from Cornell University’s ILR School and serves on the faculty of the Jungian Psychoanalytic Association of New York.
Throughout leadership roles with Dow Jones, Skadden Arps, NYU Langone Health System, and NYU Medical School, Allison has developed a sharp ability to diagnose systemic challenges, identify underlying patterns, and implement sustainable change. Her expertise spans learning and development, culture strategy, and organizational effectiveness, drawing on depth psychology, organizational behavior, and leadership science to create measurable impact. Trained in Six Sigma, leadership assessment tools, change management methods, and executive coaching, she brings a data-capable yet human-centered and systems-oriented approach to assessment and change management.
As founder and president of Avery Advisory, LLC, Allison partners with leaders and teams to render the invisible visible—uncovering patterns and insights that drive confidence, discernment, and purpose, from the personal to the organizational, to create the conditions for human flourishing and thoughtful action.
Allison collects clogs, is a sauna enthusiast, and an amateur art collector and appreciator; she primarily resides in Brooklyn but cherishes time at her casita in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
